Mott MacDonald won a commission from the Science Policy Unit of the
Home Office to review the governance, processes and technology that
comprises the National DNA Database. The team examined the
operational environment that the NDNAD supported, its effect on the
emerging market for forensic science services, the funding
arrangements and its effective- ness in the fight on crime. The
technical architecture was also assessed for efficiency,
functionality, resilience and mobility. Our recommendations covered
suggested improvements for the end-to-end operations including
innovative ideas for governance of this critical National
asset.
