Broadband Service Planning:
Mott MacDonald Schema was commissioned by a UK telecoms operator to
undertake a detailed analysis of the UK market for broadband
services. The study involved:
- The collation of demographic data on the UK business population
by post code and BT exchange area. This information was then mapped
to develop a roll-out plan
- The development of demand scenarios for business broadband
given a number of assumptions about wholesale and retail pricing,
applications, user awareness etc.
xDSL Business Plan Support
Mott MacDonald Schema was commissioned to produce a subscriber
forecast for xDSL services by a new venture seeking to raise
funding to address the market. Mott MacDonald Schema was
responsible for producing a model which projected the demand for
this new type of local loop service, as well as the revenue accrued
from the applications running over it. The model was used by the
customer as the basis for its business plan. Mott MacDonald Schema
produced an extensive report on the market and the results of the
market model as well as a review of the revenue forecasts derived
by the customer. This report was circulated to potential investors
in the new venture, along with the detailed proposals of the
client.
Broadband Entertainment Applications:
Mott MacDonald Schema was asked by the client to provide an
analysis of the leading broadband markets in Europe and North
America. The project included providing segmentation analysis of
the market that enhanced understanding of potential for individual
and bundled broadband service offerings. This included an
examination of the demand for education services.
Mott MacDonald Schema identified the critical success factors for
the thriving development of broadband entertainment services. In
doing so it also provided an understanding of the key market
dynamics in terms of regulation, technology and payment mechanisms.
In addition, Mott MacDonald Schema reviewed the impact that the
bearer service technology has on the delivery of broadband
entertainment services.
